Actress Melissa George stopped by the 2nd Annual Australians in New York Fashion Foundation Party on Tuesday wearing a garment that’s difficult to sum up in five words or less. It was a billowing halter top connected to her right ankle and also somewhat tucked in at the waist over a pair of black pants, with stiletto boots. Did you know that Gatwick airport (the other airport outside of London) has a fashion week? Yea, we didn’t either. Starting August 5th, the airport will transform into a style maven’s dream, complete with a runway show in which both the male and female winners earn a contract with Storm modeling agency. To boot? English model Lily Cole will be the judge of the inaugural event, according to Stuff.com.
This isn’t the only event at the second annual Gatwick Fashion Week, though (which is really a four-day affair). Throughout the week, Kirsty Drury, who styles Kylie Minogue and Claudia Schiffer, will put together ensembles from airport shops.
The airport will also be home to a “pamper area” where a team of stylists will give advice to travelers.

Style.com caught up with Calvin Klein in the Hamptons over the weekend at the 17th annual Watermill Summer Benefit, where it was really, truly hot outside, but Mr. Klein was wearing dark slacks and a white button-down shirt. He would never wear shorts to such an event. In fact, he thumbs his nose at shorts-wearers. Here’s what he had to say:
“I mean, there was a time when people really dressed up for this event. Now, maybe it’s the weather, maybe it’s the humidity, but it’s much more casual. You would never have seen men walking around in shorts here. I think it’s inappropriate, actually. We’re all sweating. That’s what happens; you have to sweat sometimes.”

Courtney Love recently sat down with WWD and she talked about the turning point in her fashion life: when she got a Birkin Bag six months ago. She wouldn’t reveal who gave the at-least-$7,000 bag to her, saying, “There’s no way you’re getting that information.”
Love remarked, “I got my first Birkin at age 45. It’s kind of tragic when you think about it. Next Birkin I’ll go to Paris and order it myself….It’s sort of like diamonds, though. Do you buy it yourself or do you let someone buy it for you?” She’s also said that in the last half-year her decorum has entirely changed due to the handbag: “Having a Birkin even makes you read every part of the Emily Post etiquette book.”

We’re impressed with the wide selection of suits at Fashion Week Swim–from one-pieces to board shorts–but some of the beachwear is a little too hot to handle, for us at least.
